Reviews
The play, like its characters’ poetry, is a political statement without the politics — heartwarming and humorous, but also radically inclusive.
The play also challenges Americans' perception of immigrants, including one woman from Australia — not the sort of ethnicity many people call to mind when thinking of "immigrants
Bridge & Tunnel is another not-to-be-missed production by the Indiana Repertory Theatre.
In my opinion, Bridge & Tunnel is not a one-woman show. After watching Milicent Wright for ten seconds, a multicultural music box opens up and you see a performance of fifteen characters all vying for a chance to share memories of their homeland. She interacts with the audience intimately, humorously, and quite frankly, effortlessly.
Bridge And Tunnel is an experience you don't want to let go by...Milicent is so gifted.
The show was great - watching Millicent preform is always a pleasure!
Milicent is stunning, a magician. She inhabits a whole evening worth of incredibly diverse characters with mere seconds to alter her voice, gait, accent, body language, age, sex, and attitude. This play is an absolute masterclass. Brava, Milicent!
Milicent Wright was her usual amazing self and a joy to watch. Definitely one of the best plays of this season.
Beautifully written. Beautifully acted. Bridge & Tunnel is a true delight, and an especially timely reminder of what it means to be an American. Brava!
About the Play
A one-woman celebration of American diversity. An open-mic poetry night becomes a celebration of American diversity in this Tony Award winner. One woman plays more than a dozen characters of both sexes, many races and all ages, as life stories are shared and dreams are dared. Funny, poignant and full of hope, this loving look at the differences that bring us together will expand horizons, touch hearts and lift spirits.
