Reviews
Wow great show! Great performances, music, fascinating history. The best of times as well as the not so pleasant times in Indiana history. Bravo to the cast and crew for engaging the audience and shining true light and new light on Indiana history. Diverse cast and stories. Exceeded my expectations and touched my heart.
Being moved unexpectedly by a play about Indiana's history. And this is what being a hoosier means to me - There is a simplicity and humility about our history. There is pain and sadness, but bounding love and faith. We stand tall, but mostly because we stand on our ancestors - those complicated, powerful people who came before us. #IRTLive
Tonight Lisa and I attended Finding Home Indiana 200 at the Indiana Repertory Theater. It is a collection of plays and music celebrating 200 years of Indiana history through people, places, events and social issues of both the past and present. This performance was a remarkable journey through our past as it pointed us to our future in the midst of the present. It was an emotion journey from happiness and pride to sadness and shame. I was encouraged, inspired, frustrated and aggravated, as well as overwhelmed and challenged. Though I had issue with some of its message, it was an amazing presentation by some very talented people that all Hoosiers should see. It is a two night presentation. You can see both, or only one and it will be worth your effort. I hope to see the second night soon. Go and see it. #IRTLIVE #FindingHomeINDIANA200 #Proudtobeahooiser.
Indy people! Go to #irtlive and see Finding Home: Indiana at 200. Most entertaining history lesson ever!
Finding Home: Indiana at 200 is perhaps the best, most entertaining play I've seen in 25 years of attendance at IRT! The stories remind or teach us of our history - bringing us lessons to learn for the future. We feel joy, pride in our heritage and conviction of mistakes. The music is absolutely outstanding! Kudos to each and every musician! (We brought family guests from out of state and they loved it!)
This play is a must! It is creative & entertaining but also educational. The music is fabulous. The actors are so good. I love where I live; but even if you don't, you will really enjoy FINDING HOME...you might "find" more than you expect.
About the Play
Exploring our story.
Delve into Indiana’s beloved icons and hidden gems, the celebrated and the scandalous, with a bicentennial collection created by writers from all over the state. Featuring songs by Hoosier singer-songwriter Tim Grimm, this multifaceted look at Indiana’s life and times mixes music and history, comedy and drama, fact and fable.
This production is a part of the Spirit & Place Festival, running Nov. 4 - 13. #SPIndy
