IRT's the mystery of irma vep brings hilarity into the new year

Indianapolis—The Indiana Repertory Theatre (IRT) will have audiences howling with laughter in the new year with The Mystery of Irma Vep, a Gothic horror story meets passionate Victorian-era bodice ripper, which comes to the Upperstage on January 12 through February 14.

Directed by IRT playwright-in-residence James Still, The Mystery of Irma Vep features local favorite, Rob Johansen, and returning actor Marcus Truschinski who debuted as Sherlock Holmes in The Hound of the Baskervilles.

Johansen and Truschinski will play seven different characters, including a mysterious archaeologist, a flighty new bride, a saucy housekeeper, a lovable werewolf and an Egyptian mummy.  Combined, the duo will complete more than 30 quick-change costume transformations, designed by IRT Costume Shop Manager Guy Clark.

“Our invitation for The Mystery of Irma Vep is to come enjoy and marvel at two virtuoso actors in a hilarious evening of quick changes, farcical bravura, and antic hijinks,” said Janet Allen, IRT Executive Artistic Director.   “It’s a full-out opportunity for frivolity and nothing but fun!”
